Vancouver’s Pride celebrations bring together the LGBTQ2+ community as well as their friends, allies and supporters. What started as a courageous and peaceful protest in 1978, has turned into one of the most celebrated weeks of the summer. The Vancouver Pride Festival occurs on the first week of August. Pride Week culminates on August 5th with the 40th annual Vancouver Pride Parade, a spectacle of dance, marching groups, music, and rainbow hues with over 150 parade entries. The three-hour route includes showstopping costumes, pink fire engines, four-foot-high headdresses and more!
Fairmont Pacific Rim will be participating in the Pride Parade alongside Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Vancouver Airport and Fairmont Waterfront with a Fairmont float. The Lobby Lounge will be celebrating with the True Colours cocktail, made up of watermelon-infused Aperol, Japanese plum wine, lemon, cucumber, absinthe, soda and prosecco. The cocktail is a refreshing twist on the classic Aperol Spritz, accented with flavours of watermelon and cucumber.
Botanist will be shaking up a Harvey Milk Punch, a concoction of Empress gin, genever, dry curacao, black tea, lemon, clarified milk, and lavender. The cocktail was created in celebration of Harvey Milk’s life, as the most famous openly gay official ever elected in the United States, and his tremendous contributions to the LGBTQ2+ community in North America. For every cocktail sold at The Lobby Lounge and Botanist, a $1 donation will be made to the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation.
