It hits the spot on cold afternoons or when you’re sitting in front of a warm fire with friends or loved ones playing games. Plus, it’s easy to make and fills the house with wonderful aromas! INGREDIENTS
- Yield: 1 cocktail
Alsatian Vin Chaud
4 oz Pinot Noir
1 oz Mulling Spice Syrup*
Garnish: Dried Orange Slices
Mulling Spice Syrup*
2 ½ cups White Sugar
4 ½ cups Filtered Water
4 Bay Leaves, Dried
4 Star Anise Pods
8 Whole Cloves
4 Green Cardamom Pods
2 tbsp Dark Chocolate Chunks
½ cup English Breakfast Tea
40 Juniper Berries
4 Cinnamon Sticks
PREPARATION
Difficulty: Medium
Mulling Spice Syrup*
- Heat filtered water to a boil and remove from heat.
- Steep with tea for three minutes and strain.
- Combine ½ cup of tea water (discard the rest) with the remaining ingredients and simmer over medium heat for 30 minutes.
Dried Orange Slices
- Lightly brush fresh orange slices with Mulling Spice Syrup.
- Place over parchment paper on a baking sheet and bake at 150°F for 12 hours.
Alsatian Vin Chaud
- Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and heat until over medium heat desired temperature is achieved.
- Serve in a tea cup with spiced and dried orange slices.
