INGREDIENTS

Yield: 1 cocktail

Alsatian Vin Chaud

4 oz Pinot Noir

1 oz Mulling Spice Syrup*

Garnish: Dried Orange Slices

Mulling Spice Syrup*

2 ½ cups White Sugar

4 ½ cups Filtered Water

4 Bay Leaves, Dried

4 Star Anise Pods

8 Whole Cloves

4 Green Cardamom Pods

2 tbsp Dark Chocolate Chunks

½ cup English Breakfast Tea

40 Juniper Berries

4 Cinnamon Sticks

PREPARATION

Difficulty: Medium

Mulling Spice Syrup*

  1. Heat filtered water to a boil and remove from heat.
  2. Steep with tea for three minutes and strain.
  3. Combine ½ cup of tea water (discard the rest) with the remaining ingredients and simmer over medium heat for 30 minutes.

Dried Orange Slices

  1. Lightly brush fresh orange slices with Mulling Spice Syrup.
  2. Place over parchment paper on a baking sheet and bake at 150°F for 12 hours.

Alsatian Vin Chaud

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and heat until over medium heat desired temperature is achieved.
  2. Serve in a tea cup with spiced and dried orange slices.
